Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning and function of the Korean auxiliary ‘-도’. Based on the comparison of the similarities and differences between the Korean auxiliary particle ‘-도’ and the corresponding Vietnamese adverb ‘cũng’, Vietnamese Korean learners can understand well the meaning and function of the Korean auxiliary ‘-도’. In addition, this study also helps Korean Vietnamese learners to understand and use the meaning and function of the Vietnamese adverb 'cũng' well. The auxiliary particle ‘-도’ has various functions, but in this study, it was limited to a few main functions. Therefore, to conduct further research, a more thorough analysis of each function and usage will be necessary.
