How AI personalizes education to achieve sustainable development goals

Abstract

This study explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) supports personalized education and advances Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG4 on inclusive, quality learning. Through literature review, policy insights, and distinguished cases such as Duolingo and Squirrel AI, it highlights how adaptive algorithms, natural language processing, and generative AI improve engagement, retention, and accessibility. AI-driven platforms directly promote SDG4.7 and indirectly support SDG5, SDG8, and SDG10. Nonetheless, various challenges include privacy risks, digital divides, bias, and passive learning need to be considered carefully. This attempt advocates hybrid human–AI models, ethical governance, infrastructure investment, and local adaptation to maximize benefits, positioning AI as a transformative enabler for sustainable, equitable education globally.
