Abstract

The study was conducted to determine social capital factors affecting access to fishery extension services of shrimp farming households in the coastal area of Ben Tre province. The study uses qualitative research methods to identify factors in the formal social network and informal social network, as well as quantitative research using Logistic regression models to determine the impact of each factor. Social capital factors in accessing fishery extension services. With 232 households interviewed in a conditional random survey in the coastal districts of the province: Binh Dai, Ba Tri and Thanh Phu districts, research results show that factors belonging to social capital such as Fishery extension officers, aquaculture management boards, agents at all levels, colleagues/friends and trust have an impact on access to fishery extension services. The research results are also a basis for local managers to refer to and make policies to develop social capital networks in the future, contributing to increasing shrimp farming productivity of coastal households Ben Tre province today.
